Week 4 Wrap-up

Well, we are down to one. With the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Baltimore Ravens Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs are now the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL.

Yes.

The Kansas City Chiefs.

(Jamaal Charles, the third year HB, is averaging 7 yards per carry this season.)

The Chiefs are sitting pretty at 3-0 (they were idle this past week) based primarily on their rushing attack of Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles. The Chief's running game averages 160.7 yards per game, ranked third overall in the NFL.

Practicing against a top rushing game has certainly helped the rush defense improve this season. The Chiefs allowed six HBs to rush for over 100 yards last season. This season, the D is holding opponents to 75 yards per game, fifth best in the league.

Are the Chiefs for real, though? The Chiefs finished 4-12 last season, but the offseason reunion of Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel has the Chiefs eyeing a playoff seed in an open AFC West division.

A poor 2009 season substantially helps the Chiefs with a weaker strength of schedule this season. Though the Chiefs have to visit Indianapolis and Houston, they also host the Jacksonville, Buffalo, Oakland, and Arizona. The Chiefs also travel to Seattle and St. Louis. The Chiefs could easily go .500 this season if not win the whole damn division over the Chargers, Broncos, and Raiders.

With explosive talent in the backfield, return to the playoffs for Kansas City is possible.
