The Sacramento Kings played what may be the last home game in franchise history last night with a 116-108 loss to rival Los Angeles Lakers. The Maloof family presented his case for relocation to Anaheim, where the Kings would be the third team in that metro area, to the NBA's Board of Governors today. Sacramento mayor and former Phoenix Suns guard Kevin Johnson pitched his case 30 minutes later.
Regardless, last night's Kings game had the feel of a funeral. No one knows for sure if this was the end of NBA basketball in Sacramento, the 20th largest media market in the country, but it seemed like everyone involved was well aware that it could be.
