Friday, April 8

The Boston Red Sox earn their first win of the regular season with a 9-6 win over the New York Yankees. The Red Sox would win the home series, 2-1. 

The Pittsburgh Pirates win in 14 innings against the Colorado Rockies on a walk-off double by Jose Tabata. Colorado wins the four game set, though, 3-1.













Saturday, April 9

Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers score two goals in the third period to defeat the New York Islanders and secure the Atlantic Division. The Flyers will host the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Games start Wednesday. 

The Cleveland Indians win a 2-1 masterpiece against the Seattle Mariners. With another win Sunday, the Indians have now won seven consecutive games after losing the first two of the season. 



Sunday, April 10

Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks finishes the NHL regular season with most points, 104. The Canucks, who won the President's Trophy, will host the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks in the first round.

Nike wins at the Masters, but not the usual guy. Charl Schwartzel shoots -14 to win his first major tournament. That Tiger Woods guy shoots -10. 

The Chicago Bulls continue to run away with the Eastern Conference with a 102-99 win against the Orlando Magic. Derrick Rose continues to gain supporters during his MVP-worthy season. Remember before the season when everyone was giving Kevin Durant all of their attention and EP turned its eyes to Rose. Just sayin'.

Minnesota finally gets its revenge against Dallas. The Wild defeat the Stars on the final day of the season to ensure that Dallas will not be playing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. North Stars 4 Lyfe. The Wild fired head coach Todd Richards today. Dallas' decision to keep impending free agent Brad Richards looks very suspect in hindsight. 

Good gracious. The Miami Heat start slow, but rout the Boston Celtics, 100-77. LeBron James scores 27 points in this physical match-up. Miami holds a one game lead over the Celtics for the 2 seed with two games remaining in the regular season. 








Monday, April 11

Stan Kroenke, partial owner of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalance, majority owner of the St. Louis Rams, and owner of the Colorado Rapids, becomes majority shareholder of Arsenal of the English Premier League. Go Cannons. Go mustaches.
