World Champs! The St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Texas Rangers in Game 7 of the World Series, 6 – 2. This marks the Cardinals’ 2nd WS championship in 5 years, and the 11th title in franchise history. 3B David Freese was awarded World Series MVP. Freese set a MLB record with 21 postseason RBIs.
For the first time in 6 seasons, TCU and BYU clashed as nonconference rivals. TCU came out with the victory, 38 – 28, securing bowl eligibility for the 7th straight year. Josh Boyce (above) caught one of 2 TD passes by QB Casey Pachall.
In a game hyped by two ranked teams, #9 Oklahoma destroys #8 Kansas State 58 – 17. Oklahoma outscored the Wildcats 21 – 0 in the 3rd quarter and handed Kansas their first loss of the season. Sooners’ QB Landry Jones (above) threw for a school record of 505 yards.
With a chance to get back at their rivals, the Boston Bruins slid to their second loss in a row to the Montreal Canadiens, 4 – 2. The Habs jumped out to a 2 – 0 lead in the 1st period and never looked back, extending their winning streak to 3 games.
No sign of hope. NBA Commissioner David Stern cancelled the rest of November’s regular season games, saying there will not be a full NBA season "under any circumstances."
Sergio Garcia won the Andalucia Masters in Sotogrande, Spain by one shot on Sunday. This is his second straight European Tour victory. Despite bogeying twice early, he came out with a pair of birdies to eventually pull even 71. He finished 6-under Valderrama.
Tony Stewart (left) won his first race of the season at Martinsville as part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Stewart managed to catch Jimmie Johnson in a restart with 3 laps to go. Stewart now trails only 8 behind points’ leader Carl Edwards.
Ben Roethlisberger is charged for raping: the Patriot’s defense. Big Ben was 36 of 50 for 365 yards and 2 TDs to beat Tom Brady and the Brady Bunch. The Steeler’s improve to 6 and 2 and halt the Patriot’s winning streak at 3.
Fly Like an Eagle. The Eagles soared last night to a 34 – 7 routing of the Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia had a 27 – 0 lead through 3 quarters. LeSean McCoy had a career-best 185 yards on the ground, complimented by 2 TDs. The Eagle victory really makes the NFC East a race to watch as the NFL season hits its peak.
