College football teams are switching conferences faster than you can throw a yellow flag on the field. Syracuse and Pittsburgh are leaving the Big East for the Atlantic Coast Conference while TCU has left their name in the Big East conference as only memories. Just as fast as TCU joined the Big East conference, they are off to the Big 12, along with West Virginia. Where does this leave the Big East Conference?
As of now, Rutgers, Louisville, Cincinnati, and USF are the 4 teams currently not in the works of switching conferences. Fans cannot fathom a football season with only four competing teams, but fret not; the Big East is looking for expansion opportunities.

Independent football team, Brigham Young University, initially vied to be part of the Big 12 conference but after lots of back and forth all signs show they will not be making the move. Now rumors have exploded about a move to the Big East.
BYU has consistently stated they are looking to join a conference for more exposure for their school. Joining the Big 12 means BYU would get some exposure but they are the only conference that do not play a championship game— a BCS title is what would set the platform of BYU football. So, on to the next bright idea: off to the Big East BYU goes, or not?
The press is hot with East Coast newspapers talking about the Cougars adding a Western Division to the Big East. Boise State was formally invited into the Big East, but has not reached a decision yet. The Broncos have not accepted the invitation to join the Big East—they are waiting to see what western division the conference can add to the program. Along with Boise State (possibly joining the Big East), BYU joining the conference will be beneficial to the conference because they will be the second Western team scouted. If the Cougars join the Big East conference, there you go! This is the beginning of a wonderful Eastern and Western Division.
In the coming weeks we have to keep our eye out to what will become of the Big East.
