Race for First

Washington vs. Washington State/AP Images
As the regular season winds down, the top spot in the Pac 12 is still up for grabs.

The California Bears are no longer atop the Pac 12 standings. As of last week, the Bears shared possession of first place with the Washington Huskies. After a game against Colorado, the Huskies are alone in the number one spot.

Senior day won’t be a day to remember for the Bears. They shot a pitiful 38% from the field and were outrebounded, 35-24. Almost half of the Buffalo rebounds came from Andre Roberson who tallied an incredible 15 rebounds.

Jorge Gutierrez picked a bad time to have his worst performance of the season. He didn’t record a field goal and ultimately went 0-7. Gutierrez does deserve credit for tallying 9 rebounds.

With little over a week before conference tournaments begin, the Pac 12 is still a mystery. Washington has a chance to cling to the top spot and better their chances of making the NCAA tournament in March.
