Each team in the NFC north is a playoff contender
By Joshua Walls
The NFC north is
shaping up to be quite the power division that many experts predicted it would
be at the beginning of the season
Every team, even the
worst in the division, the Detroit Lions, is playing with a chip on their
shoulder.
Week after week, fans
are witnessing competitive and thrilling play from their beloved franchises.

The Chicago Bears,
who sit on top of the division, are setting the standard high for the rest of
the NFL. These Bears come in week
in and week out on a mission to be the best and they certainly showed their
poise this week when they destroyed the tenacious Tennessee Titans by 31
points. The Bears scored a
franchise record of 28 points in one quarter. This was certainly an unbalanced game. One ESPN analyst referred to the game
as “a one sided affair.”
The next team in this
ridiculously loaded conference is the Green Bay Packers. Cheesehead nation is in awe about the
performance of their beloved Packers throughout the last few weeks. Since the teams rocky start at the
beginning of the season, they have been on a four game winning streak. This weekend, they certainly showed the
rest of the division that they are competing for that top spot. Rodgers’ performance of 216 passing
yards and four touchdowns certainly yelled out MVP.
The next best team in
the division is the Adrian Peterson-led Minnesota Vikings. Chris Gates made some really great
points about this team, but the one that stood out the most was when he said, “The
Minnesota Vikings
got things off to a nice start in their game against the Seattle Seahawks,
and they did it by. . .what else. . .giving the ball to Adrian Peterson.” Peterson left his fingerprints all over
the ball during Sunday’s matchup against the Seahawks.
The worst team in the
division, the Detroit Lions, are even beginning to have some of that NFC North
luck rub off on them as the post am embarrassing 31-14 win over Jaguars. The viscous Lions were able to
reach .500 after a challenging few weeks.
The Lions looked to be a rejuvenated bunch after Sunday’s game, but lets
see how rejuvenated they really are when they take their talents to Soldier
field next week to play the top gun Bears.
Overall, the NFC North
is looking like the best division in football, but we will see how good they
really are in a couple of weeks when playoff time is near. However, it is almost a guarantee that NFL
fans everywhere will see at least three of these teams in the playoffs.
