Arizona continued their slope down hill last week, but hey,
at least they did it in record-breaking fashion. The Seahawks destroyed and
shut out the Cardinals 58-0. This was the worst loss for the Cardinals in
franchise history. Well, doesn’t that sum up this team’s season perfectly?

When things do not go the way a team would like, the first
man that people point fingers at is the coach. As if he is not used to it
already since the Cardinals dropped their ninth straight. But this one even the
coach knows was just plain shameful.
“Let me start by saying I apologize to our fans and everybody associated
with our organization,” Whisenhunt said in his post game press conference “That
was embarrassing today.”
The Cardinals have been plagued by quarterback troubles all
season, starting with the loss of Kevin Kolb to a rib injury. I mean, these
things do happen. Just look at the Indianapolis Colts 2011 season without
Peyton Manning. They went 2-14.
Back up quarterbacks John Skelton and Ryan Lindley both were
thrown into the game with no results this weekend. Skelton started the game for
the Cards but managed to pass the ball four times right into the Seahawks
defensive line. All of Skelton’s interceptions were basically gift wrapped,
bowed and hand delivered to the Seahawk defense. But Skelton obviously did not
have enough presents to go around because he could not get his own team on the
score board once.
Ryan Lindley came into the game in the third quarter to try and
rescue the Cardinals, who were already down 38-0. But the quarterback provided
no help. In Lindley’s first possession of the game he was sacked and he fumbled
the ball. So much for a comeback. Not like any one in their right mind thought
that was happening anyway.
There are just three weeks left in the NFL season. After
these three weeks, the organization can sit down and figure out what went so wrong
for this Arizona team. It’s hard to remember the start of the Cardinals season,
considering it has been fogged by brutal losses, but Arizona did start off
undefeated at 4-0. And who was their first win against, you may ask? The
Seattle Seahawks. 20-16. This week, the Seahawks scored more on the Cardinals
than the total score of the teams’ first meeting.
If anyone is still interested in the rest of the Cardinals
season, the Cards face Detroit this Sunday. And hey, Detroit has the same 4-9
record as the Cardinals. But don’t go betting on Arizona this week… I’m sure
they will find a way to blow it again.
