For years Tiger Woods was a quiet and emotionless winning machine. He would let out the occasional fist pump, but the audience hardly got to see the personality behind the man ranked behind only Sam Snead and Jack Nicklaus in PGA Tour wins with 71 (aside from the time he interviewed himself following the 2009 AT&T National).
To say that 2009 and 2010 were hectic for Woods is an understatement. Women claiming to be Woods' mistresses seemed to come out of the woodwork every week. His chaotic personal life tarnished his reputation. His struggles on the tour since he returned last April at the Masters have not helped matters. Some argue that his game is off because he has too much on his mind, while others seem to think that his time at the top of the sport has passed.
Woods created a Twitter account (it's been verified)last November in an effort to stay connected with his supporters. Instead of getting the same bland, generic answers that you would expect from Woods, he's actually opening up. His followers get a little insight into his daily activities and his personality.
Did I mention that he interacts with his followers?
Woods faces the near impossible task of making everyone forget his past transgressions, but at least he's reaching out.
