All-Star Extravaganza

For years, the NHL All-Star game has been decried by the media and fans alike. The game itself is usually devoid of the passion and intensity that is shown on a nearly night-by-night basis during the NHL regular season. In an attempt to spark some interest, Brendan Shanahan is installing a draft, in which two captains are allowed to pick their teams.

But the geniuses at EP Sports have found a way to make it more interesting.

(We're using the word "geniuses" as loosely as possible here.)

A one-day event, with three sets of games.

First, a rookie/sophomores game, with $10,000 going to the winners.

Second, a game between the "semi-All Star's," two teams of the best players who didn't make the game. The groups will battle it out for $20,000 a man.

And, finally, the All-Star Game, with $40,000 going to each of the winners.

Every other day leading up to the NHL All-Star Game, EP Sports will approve a new roster. Each will represent the group of players who EP Sports believes should be playing in each game. None of original criteria from the All-Star Game counts on this one.

With that, let the All-Star extravaganza begin!
